Your wedding should be every bit as unique as you are, which is why I will take the time to get to know you as a couple and get a real feel for what you want on your special day.

Humanist Ceremonies

The beauty of a Humanist Ceremony is that there are no restrictions, no set format and definitely no prescribed wording. We will work together to create something that is exactly right for you.

A Humanist ceremony is non-religious but can be spiritual and heartfelt and you do not need to be a Humanist yourselves- most of my families are not and may embrace many faiths or none.

What they have in common is a desire to have a service that is special, personal, and meaningful for them.

The ceremony can take place exactly where you would like (inside or out) and at a time of your choosing (in daylight or moonlight). The only limits are our imaginations – so let’s think outside the box together and create something wonderful!

How can I help you?

I will help you to plan all aspects of the ceremony including the writing of your vows, helping to choose music and poetry that you can really relate to (I know not everyone shares my love of Leonard Cohen!).

We can include the traditional exchange of rings or the tokens of your choice alongside other meaningful rituals such as handfasting or ring warming- the choice is yours. I only book one ceremony a day so that I can focus entirely on you and ensure that you have your dream wedding.

The Process

I want you to be confident that I am the right “fit” for you, so if you are interested the first stage would be for us to meet (either in person or virtually) to have a chat and get to know one another with absolutely no obligation on your part.

If you do choose me to be your celebrant a non -refundable deposit of £100 will secure the date of your choice and we would then work together to craft your ceremony.

This can be done in a variety of ways to suit you, I generally use a combination of questionnaires, practical exercises, meetings, and conversations but would be guided by your preferences. The one constant is that you remain in charge of the process- it is YOUR day not mine.

I will begin to draft a script, checking back with you at every stage and will rewrite and tweak until you are entirely happy with it. It is your celebration of your love and you and only you, will know when it is absolutely right for you.

I would have a dry run with you the day before to ensure that you are comfortable with everything and are able to relax and enjoy yourselves on your special day.

I will deliver your celebration of your love and future life together and leave you with a presentation copy of the script, a certificate (which you might want to sign as part of the ceremony) and a small gift as keepsakes of your day.

Me & my partner got married in the beautiful setting of Elmbridge Farm. We did not want a religious ceremony and opted for one that was more our style. We were recommended Margaret by one of the other suppliers and we now know why. We met her and instantly knew that she would deliver a beautiful ceremony. We described to her the type of ceremony we wanted, joyful, emotional with a funny twist and we got more then we could have ever imagined. While engaging with me & my wife separately on many occasions, getting as much personal detail as possible she wrote up a beautiful script that would have even the most unemotional person reaching for their hankies. She helped us both write our vows which we will both cherish for an eternity. She delivered the ceremony beautifully and every guest commented at just how beautiful, personal the ceremony was. It even brought out a few laughs to the delight of me & my Bride. Margaret is very professional and we cannot recommend her enough to anyone who is looking for this type of ceremony. She really does put the personal touch on it with even delivering our script in a sunflower folder(which was the basis of our theme) – thank you again Margaret.

Margaret performed our wedding ceremony and the naming ceremony for our daughter in December 2022. We had a few Zoom meetings to discuss/arrange the service and it ended up being perfect! It was a wonderful ceremony with the help of Margaret. From start to finish we have been working closely together. Although we only decided to go for a humanist wedding at the very last minute, Margaret was able to put all the things together with clear guidance and advice. She is very helpful and kind enough to meet all our last-minute requests, and we got very positive feedback from our friends and families!
