LeFunk! is a highly experienced covers band based in Manchester and specialising in classic funk, soul and disco hits. If you are looking to bring a fun, party atmosphere to an event, be it a wedding, birthday, festival or conference, then LeFunk! will provide it with a dancefloor driven repertoire honed through years of experience.

The band is available in two formats, the 5 piece, or a compact trio, making LeFunk! the perfect choice for venue sizes ranging from the corner of a bar to large hotels and concert halls!

And that's only half of it. If you need it, the band can provide a complete - one stop - live band, recorded music and PA solution for your entire event, including a DJ service, disco and stage lighting and your own microphone connected to the PA for you to make speeches and announcements. Once booked they'll do their best to build your ideal playlists in advance, but with immediate access to thousands of hits from the last 6 decades, they can also satisfy the vast majority of music requests on the day.

But what if you have a special song that you'd like to be played live but isn't in the band's repertoire? Given a month's notice the band will learn and play an additional song of your choice. This could for instance be a ballad for the ‘first dance’ at a wedding, or just another dance floor classic.

Finally be assured that LeFunk! will work with you to ensure they fit in to, rather than dictate, the flow of your event. Set lengths can be adjusted to fit in with auctions, raffle results and speeches. Clothing can be funky or formal. Arrival and set up times can usually be arranged to minimise disruption to guests. When you book LeFunk! they won't just turn up on the night and play - they'll work with you before hand to help realise your plans.


Extras:
-------
Additional, more subtle live music can be performed by members of the band during the welcome drinks or meal phase of an event. This would comprise classical/cocktail piano/guitar with some easy listening female vocal mixed in. Some requests may be possible to satisfy if the piano music can be provided, or advance warning is given of any specific music required.

Musician Bios:

Benn (Drums):
Talented multi instrumentalist and Royal Northern College of Music (drums/percussion) graduate.
Benn has played many venues around the UK with bands of all styles such as ‘Music Live’ at The Birmingham National Exhibition Centre, Manchester Academy, Manchester Club Academy and The RNCM. In keeping with his love of 60s and 70s soul music, Benn was the first drummer to play with a live band inside the legendary Twisted Wheel soul club in Manchester since closure in 1971, the previous band being The Spencer Davis Group!

Dean (Bass/Vocals):
Dean has been playing bass for around 30 years, mostly working in a song-writing/recording partnership but also co-founding and playing for years with the popular Birmingham-based 60s cover band Tobacco Road.

Anna (Keyboards):
Classically trained to grade 8 piano (distinction) and a graduate of Salford University (Popular Music and Recording) Anna is constantly in demand for live work with bands in the Manchester area and also gives regular church/recitals and tuition. Venues she's performed at include many Irish Centres such as Leeds, Huddersfield, Middlesborough, and Corby; and other prestigious venues for example the Longfield Suite at Prestwich and Wolverhampton Racecourse. She has also played at indie venues such as the Roadhouse, Club Academy, Ruby Lounge, and Night and Day, all well known in the Manchester area.

Dave (Guitar/Backing Vocals):
Dave has been playing guitar since he and Dean formed their first group as teenagers. He founded and performed with various university and function bands in Birmingham in the 80s, playing at major hotels including the National Exhibition Centre Metrapole and university events. He has returned to live playing over the last few years with Jazz and Jazz Funk bands, playing at Alexander’s Jazz Theatre, Cinnamon Club, Iguana Bar and various other Manchester venues.

Laura (Lead Vocals):
Laura joined the band in Autumn 2010 coming from the high quality end of the Karaoke scene. She had also been receiving plaudits for her occasional guest appearances with a relation’s covers band. She is a gifted and totally natural singer with a great range, allowing the band to perform a wide ranging repertoire.



Equipment:
----------
The band has its own new 2K LDA PA with separate mixes for front of house and on stage monitoring. It also has its own stage/disco lighting. What this means in practice is that the sound is clear and hi fidelity while powerful and pumping enough to provide for a dancing audience of up to 250 people in an indoor environment. For larger venues or outside events where a PA is not provided, the band can still play, but will hire in additional equipment, the cost of which would be added to the overall fee.
